The Assassin's Enemy Lover

Chapter 482

I guess calling them explorers would be an overstatement. They were more like influencers with gorgeous faces and fun personalities. While live broadcasting in a place that others would equate to area fifty one, one of them decided that it was a pretty good idea to start a fire in the makeshift igloo they built based on old earth illustrations in the museum.

Actually, it was a bright idea, to be frank. It was super cold and a little fire would warm things up. Their clothes and gear were capable of keeping them warm but they wanted the authentic experience thus they lit a fire and umm... what happened next was obvious.

An explosion spanning a kilometer occurred and none of them survived. Because this happened during a live broadcast and the five lifestyle influencers were lost it sparked waves of protests.

Again the royal family was blamed for it because they should have found a better galaxy for them to live in. After that incident, it was public knowledge that this place of snow would be the death of the federation.

From what they knew Yeoh Lang had tried to open portals to this place several times but failed because the unconscious Yeoh Jun fought it.

Even in that state, he knew that something wasn’t right. It’s just that none of them expected him to somehow manage to create such a monstrosity and send it straight to the explosive zone.

It was like sending a warhead straight into a nuclear power plant. That shit spelt disaster from the bet.

“Pa, can you manage a space jump?” asked Zi Han as their mech moved away from the field of corpses heading towards the broken down buildings.

.....

“I can try but I am not sure if I can manage... How are you feeling?” he asked as he raised some of the rubble freeing two people trapped underneath.

“Pretty good. Just a mild headache,” he said his forehead still covered in sweat despite the cockpit having regulated temperature.

Raylan turned back towards him and Yi Chen met Zi Han’s gaze his expression somber. “I know you aren’t okay. How about we take a rest?” he said and Zi Han pursed his lips with unwillingness in his eyes. He knew he needed to rest but the situation was very urgent. One small mistake in the entire federation would be laid to waste. He worried for his mother and grandfather who were still waiting for him to come home.

“I know but this is urgent,” he said his voice almost in a whisper.

Yi Chen was seriously at a loss. He honestly didn’t know what to do at this point. Yeoh Jun also knew that his son was pushing it thus he suggested they take a break and regroup.

While he was suggesting that the people who had started coming out from their hiding places suddenly kowtowed before them each with their own words to say.

Zi Han couldn’t bear this but he didn’t say anything. He just wasn’t in the mood to deal with people. He turned his mech and walked away while Yi Chen followed right behind him.

“You, Yi kid. Help them rescue those trapped underneath the rubble and I will watch over him,” said Yeoh Jun before Igneous followed.

Yi Chen was very reluctant but he also knew that Yeoh Jun needed to rest as well and they had no choice.

When Yeoh Jun caught up with him Zi Han was sitting atop the city wall which was one of the only structures still standing. He had put away his mech and he was twisting open a bottle of ice cold water when his father sat next to him.

Zi Han who was about to drink thought of filial piety thus he handed it to him. Yeoh Jun shook his head his gaze fixed on his son’s face as though scrutinising him.

“I prefer black current juice,” he said and Zi Han’s brow twitched slightly realising why his mother insisted on putting it inside his interspatial storage in the first place. She was worrying over her long lost husband despite cursing him to high heaven.

“Mum put it in there,” he said handing it over after twisting the cap open.

Yeoh Jun showed a self deprecating smile before saying, “She still loves me.”

“What do you think?” replied Zi Han before taking a sip of water.

Yeoh Jun gulped down more than half the bottle in one go and the stomach that had been empty for decades suddenly felt uncomfortable. His taste buds enjoyed it but his tummy didn’t at all. Before he could even say anything a pill was placed in front of him and his heart felt happy. This was the pinnacle of his life. Having a wife that loves him and a son that cares for him was his ultimate joy. Despite having never met him his son was really sincere with him.

“Thank you,” he said before swallowing it down. As a sense of relief washed over him, he leaned back resting the back of his head on the wall as he dazzlingly stared into the distance.

The scorching sun was already rising on the horizon as a new day dawned upon them.

“You look like her... like a lot,” he said with a slight quirk at the corner of his lips.

“What? You thought I would look like you?” asked Zi Han with a light chuckle.

“Kind of. I thought you were going to be a girl who looks just like me. I would carry you with me everywhere like a backpack. I wanted... wanted to show you the beauty of space and go on adventures,” he said his eyes teary but he didn’t shed a tear. He just took another sip swallowing down the pain.

“Then too bad I am a boy and look like your wife,” said Zi Han jokingly. He had noticed his father’s mood had fallen sharply thus he said this to ease the atmosphere.
