The Assassin's Enemy Lover

Chapter 111

He sluggishly rubbed his eyes with his elbow resting on his bent knee. He slowly raked his fingers through his hair pushing it back while commanding the housekeeping system, “Disable night mode.”

Yi Chen heard the housekeeping system respond, “Yes young master,” before the tint on the windows slowly faded away and the bright sunlight seeped through. Under the natural light, Yi Chen could now see everything clearly.

The youth sitting on the bed had disheveled hair and his fox eyes were narrowed trying to get used to the light. As the sun rays reflected light on his smooth skin Yi Chen saw those two beads on his chest and he couldn’t help but get up for a second.

Zi Han, who had no idea what he started this fine morning asked, “Why aren’t you saying anything?”

Yi Chen stood with his forearm plastered on the wall as he did some breathing exercises to calm his beating heart. He patted his hot cheeks before sitting back down and asking, “Why do you sleep naked?”

Zi Han got off the bed pushing the quilt away while responding casually, “Why are you questioning me just like my mother? This is my bedroom and I can choose to sleep naked if I want. Plus I am not naked, I am wearing underwear.”

Yi Chen bit his lower lip stopping himself from saying something that would infuriate Zi Han. But despite this, he still said, “You will catch a cold. The nights here get chilly.”

Zi Han who had a temperature-controlled room monitored by the housekeeping AI gave him a ‘are you fuckin kidding me look’ before bending down to look for his slippers. When he couldn’t find them he directly knelt on the floor with his perky ass in black trunks aimed at the floating screen.

.....

Yi Chen, “....”

“Ahem,” he cleared his throat loudly attracting Zi Han’s attention while not trying to look at the same time.

Zi Han got out from under the bed with two slippers in his hand. He stood up and with a dull thud, he dropped them on the floor before slipping his toes in them.

He didn’t even know why Yi Chen was making that sound. He just grabbed his pajama pants he had casually tossed off in the middle of the night after feeling slight discomfort in his sleep.

Yi Chen nervously rubbed his sweaty palms on his thighs while asking, “So when a girl calls you in the morning is this what they see?”

Zi Han tied the drawstring on his pajama pants and said, “What girl? Other than my grandpa and mother no one calls me..... well now you too of course.”

After he said this Yi Chen’s hands paused for a moment and he suddenly felt the blossoming of spring in the pit of his stomach.

“Oh,” replied Yi Chen trying to suppress a smile.

“Why did you wake me up?” asked Zi Han picking up the corner of the quilt hanging on the ground and tossing it back on the bed.

Yi Chen suddenly looked up and blurted out, “You forgot already?”

Zi Han immediately recalled their plans. Rubbing his forehead in frustration he asked, “Tch..... it’s today?”

Yi Chen mistook his reaction as reluctance to go. A wave of disappointment washed over him. He wasn’t going to force Zi Han but before he could speak the youth said, “Send me the address. I will be there on time.”

Yi Chen wanted to say something but Zi Han directly ended the video call and sprawled on the bed. The reason why he seemed reluctant was because his mother had instructed him to stay at home this weekend. Apparently, something big was going down but she didn’t know where.

For the past two days, she hadn’t come home and he overheard his grandfather on a call with her talking about the portals that were randomly opening all over the federation. It seemed she suspected one would open in Capital Star this weekend.

But thinking of how Yi Chen had helped him out these past few days taking time out to tutor him he couldn’t bring himself to disappoint him. So he could only go.

He sat up abruptly and wrote him a message. Yi Chen who thought Zi Han was angry with him was sitting in his chair while typing and erasing a message several times. He wasn’t sure what to write thus he kept repeating this cycle back and forth.

While he was erasing for the nth time a message came through and he reflexively leaped out of his chair.

HandsomeHan: Are your siblings going out today?

HandsomeHan: Heard my mum say something big is going down in Captial Star today.

HandsomeHan: If they are going out try and convince them otherwise.

Yi Chen who was bombarded with a lot of messages was overwhelmed for a second. His heart felt warm knowing that Zi Han cared for his family. Didn’t that mean he also cared for him by association?

YC: They aren’t.

YC: Thanks.

As soon as he sent the two messages his bedroom door was knocked on twice and three people walked in with the youngest being the one who opened his door.

“Ming Ming, he hadn’t even said come in,” said Lin Ruoxi reprimanding her.

Ming Ming didn’t seem to hear her she just jumped on the bed and lay flat with her limps spread out like she was creating snow angels.

Lin Ruoxi hung Yi Chen’s clothes for the blind date in the walk-in closet while saying, “I picked this for you and straightened it out.”

“Why does dage get to go out to play today while we can’t?” complained Yi Youxi while sitting on the bed next to his sister.

Yi Chen thanked his mother while minimizing the chat interface. “You never go out? You play games all day,” said Yi Chen unable to fathom his little brother’s mind. The one time he was told not to go out he actually complained.

“I was planning to hang out with my friends,” he complained as he threw his back on the bed as well. The pair of siblings sighed while acting like they were being detained against their will.

“Ha! What friends? You and your little buddies even threw a birthday party on the virtual net because you were too lazy to have a birthday in reality,” said Lin Ruoxi before walking over to drag her trouble makers out the door.
