The Max Level Hero Has Returned!

Chapter 790

Chapter 790

According to Destruction, Rinne alone couldn\'t destroy them all. Davey thought about it, but then realized the answer was simple.

‘A hero… was summoned down to Earth,’ he thought.

And that hero destroyed the source that had allowed Destruction to endure for so long.

Other heroes who had appeared so far had disappeared after about ten seconds at most, but Davey figured that the hero on Earth now must be different. In any case, the first of the three gods who had been interfering with his life plan for ten thousand years was going to disappear.

[Grrr… Grrr…]

Davey made eye contact with Destruction, who looked up at him while making blood-boiling sounds with an eerie, red gaze.

“Let’s go, it won’t take long.”

The black slime-like fragments were shaking with fleeting life and tried to climb up Davey\'s hand, but then were repeatedly pushed back by an intangible force.

This was a battle that had lasted for ten thousand years—since ancient times. Neltarid, despite becoming a god, was consumed by the power of destruction and had fallen into madness.

Thanatos, once a symbol of sleep and dreams, was in charge of the twilight of the Goddess Freyja and ruled the new world while she rested. But she was abandoned by the Goddess Freyja, and in her extreme hatred and anger, she created the Abyss—a distorted space born of her rage.

And finally, there was the Origin\'s Covenant—the origin of it all. Freyja was a being of order—the absolute law that governed the world.

The creatures had been affected by the war of the inherently unkillable gods, and they still continued to fight amidst the war. Now, one of those three gods would finally disappear once and for all.

At the same time, the pitch-black sword that had pierced Davey\'s body slowly dispersed and dissipated. All the influence and power of the Neltarid side of destruction began to disappear.

God\'s Twilight.

Davey was witnessing it with his own eyes.

As Destruction disappeared, leaving only their original human body behind, they widened their eyes. Then they pulled Davey while holding on to their sword.

[The body… is destroyed. It\'s your victory.]

Surprisingly, Destruction didn’t struggle in its final moments and stopped resisting. However...

[But don\'t forget. Your fate that I saw before I fell…]

He looked up at Davey with a sad expression.

[There was no such thing as harmony.]

“...”

[Hehehehe, you pitiful creature. Did you think you were different from us? In the end, you’re abandoned just like the rest of us.]

What they meant by “the same” was simple.

They were all getting stabbed in the back. After they were used, they would be discarded.

Neltarid and Thanatos were both created by Goddess Freyja, but she had abandoned them, leaving them to this fate. The reason Neltarid and Thanatos started the war in the first place was because Goddess Freyja wanted to eliminate them for some unknown reason.

[Freyja will erase you after she’s done with Thanatos and I who have been rebelling against her. Hehehe… Don’t you know already? Haven’t you noticed that the ones who’ve helped you grow are already disappearing?]

Davey remained silent at their words.

Dokgo Jun the Heavenly Destroyer. Demon God Odin. The other heroes who he presumed to be on Earth right now. He realized that many heroes were disappearing before he knew it. They were disappearing one by one under the pretext of helping him. However, if this whole situation was caused by her cleaning as Destruction was saying, Goddess Freyja’s final target would be him.

Even though Goddess Freyja couldn’t easily eliminate other beings, Davey was someone that she could erase if she put her mind to it. In fact, she had even attempted to get rid of him using some form of divine punishment at one point. If all of that was just an act... Davey had nothing left to say.

Even the curse of the Death Lord, which had saved him from countless dangers, as well as the rejection of fate, only made this more believable.

In the end, Goddess Freyja created beings to help her then planned to erase them once they had served their purpose. The problem was that the god, driven by a desire for life, rejected death and rebelled against her plans. Since it wasn’t easy to erase a god of the beginning or those who became gods, Davey figured she would be having a headache. So, she chose beings that she could erase at any time—making Davey an obvious choice.

“I suppose that’s plausible.”

Davey sneered as he saw Destruction almost disappear. For a scenario they came up with while dying, it seemed well-constructed. Destruction was completely gone, and only the middle-aged man who had unwillingly acted as their host body remained, a mere corpse. Davey slowly got up and turned around before flicking his hand. A small spark started, setting fire to the middle-aged man\'s body.

This was quite the simple conclusion for a god\'s swan song, but he couldn’t have cared less.

Arbit quickly landed near Davey as he tried to get out of the void with a tired face.

“My lord.”

Arbit approached in the form of an old man while tapping his cane on the floor. Then the hourglass he created disappeared, and the power that was overflowing in his body began to stabilize again. This place had made it possible for him to enhance his absolute power beyond what he was normally capable of.

But he wasn’t sure if he could defeat Thanatos. She alone seemed formidable, and he didn’t even want to think about adding in Eclipse who had become one with her. He wondered if it would really be as easy as it sounded to eliminate both Thanatos and Eclipse simultaneously by breaking their levels of divinity. However, he didn’t have to dwell on this question for long.

“Facing them in person, I’m at a loss for words. How am I supposed to beat them?”

“Lord…”

Creatures couldn’t kill gods. Only gods could kill gods. That was why Davey was only able to take down Destruction after they had given up their divinity. The problem was that Destruction was only a half-being. Considering that Thanatos was a complete god, he knew the job ahead would be even more difficult, and his current preparations would not be enough.

“That damn goddess!”

Bang!

As Davey swung his hand roughly, an intangible air shock wave exploded, blowing away some of the red fog.

“Wait, if it’s a problem between gods, they should handle it among themselves. I don’t understand why they’re leaving it to me.”

Thanatos was a lower-level god that Goddess Freyja had created. If so, he figured she could get rid of her at will—so then why couldn’t she just kill Thanatos? He couldn’t find an answer to his question right away. That undertaking was too difficult to be considered a simple one.

“My lord, you should look after your body.”

Hearing his words, Davey noticed a sharp pain radiating through his body. The excessive amount of endorphins had made him forget about his pain, but he was now feeling the full extent of his injuries. Even though he quickly began healing himself with sacred magic, the severity of the wounds hindered his recovery.

"Oh, it’s time. Get going, my lord. With such a powerful clash of enormous forces, this space has begun to want you as its ruler.”

It would be good news for Arbit if Davey just stayed in this place and became the ruler—the god of this new world—but he chose to wait.

“Arbit.”

“Keep in mind that, if Thanatos is at a level you can\'t handle…”

If things reached such a dire point…

“You will then have to make a decision. Choose to become the god of this place. As the absolute being of this absolute space, with no restrictions and rules, you can ultimately survive and kill Thanatos.”

“If you become the absolute of this Red Void, you will become an absolute being—not even Goddess Freyja would be able to do anything to you. At that point, what would the God of the Abyss even matter?”

This world was still a chaotic one which had no rules. Unlike the world of Goddess Freyja, there were no rules or laws here, so there were no restrictions on gods’ interference. Davey knew it was the optimal environment for him, but he also knew he couldn’t escape this space once he belonged here. He wouldn\'t be able to even simply come and go like he was doing right now.

“I don’t want to work overtime forever,” Davey said calmly. He then left the Red Void.

His consciousness was still blurry. As he escaped the Red Void Energy that was constantly healing his body, the aftereffects of his injuries began to seep in. As he slowly walked away whilst trying to stop his bleeding, he looked at the giant shattered gem in front of him.

The gem placed in the center of the quiet, abandoned factory looked like it had been quickly cut with something sharp. As he took a short breath to quickly recover, he held the broken gem piece in his hand then let go, leaning against the pillar.

He then heard a young man’s voice echo in the dark abandoned factory, where moonlight was the only form of illumination.

- Good job. Freyja.

“If you call me Freyja one more time, you’ll end up just like your other half.”

Neltarid. The other half of Neltarid that had now won their battle of sides appeared before Davey.

“Is it okay for a god to manifest like this?”

A god was a transcendent concept. Davey knew there was no way it would be this easy for them to manifest like this.

- Creatures cannot kill gods—only gods can destroy or seal other gods. But I don\'t have enough power to wipe out Thanatos.

“If Goddess Freyja steps forward, that’ll make things a lot easier.”

Just as Neltarid said, Thanatos was ultimately a creation of the Goddess Freyja as well. She, who was basically their creator, could not destroy Thanatos.

Or perhaps, she wasn’t trying to.

- I will protect you as much as I can so that Goddess Freyja can’t do anything to you. But before that… we need to find someone who can heal your body. You were given a divine punishment. Even though it came from a half-being, they left poison in your body.

"So? What… sigh... are you planning to do?”

Davey knew he would recover over time anyway, but it seemed like they didn\'t want to waste a single second in such a dire situation.

- I\'ll show you a miracle. Have a nice dream.

As he sat on the ground, trying to recover, he heard a mysterious rustling noise. Before he knew it, someone was hurriedly running up to him while shouting.

[!!]

It seemed like they were shouting something, but his hearing was off, possibly damaged, and the sound had only just slowly begun to come back. He couldn\'t comprehend the words clearly.

Davey then noticed a girl in a black suit standing in front of him. He lifted his head, his expression blank. His vision was much blurrier than he had expected; he couldn\'t even tell who was in front of him.

[Oh goodness!! Your condition is even more severe than I thought!!]

‘What do you mean ‘severe?’ I just need to wait it out,’ Davey thought.

But Davey couldn’t help but chuckle at the familiar voice that was making such a fuss.

[Descendant, there’s no time! Connect with him! I will infuse the mana myself!]

"Really? Then wouldn’t you disappear?!”

[That’s what I thought too, but I don’t think that’s the case!]

Hearing the man\'s urgent words, the blonde girl quickly hugged Davey. The wet blood from his body got on her black suit, but she didn\'t care.

His vision began to clear. The person who hugged him was no other than Illyna, a girl who shouldn’t even be on Earth.

‘Am I seeing things?’ Davey thought.

He was surprised at the sight of the possessed figure floating behind her. The ghostly figure was Perserque\'s father, the original owner of Caldeiras—Sword God Ares.

‘This must be a dream,’ Davey thought to himself in a daze, feeling somewhat whimsical.

Illyna here hugging him with tears streaming down her face, Aeres quickly giving him strength through her—this duo didn\'t make sense.

Neltarid said they would show him a miracle, and it seemed like they were talking about this dream.

‘This must be a dream… but how do I wake up from it?’

Davey slowly moved his weakened hands.

And then,

Crack! Crack!

Kyaaa!!??

He suddenly massaged her whole body, as he always had. As expected, Illyna de Palan—even in dreams—felt nice…

"Y-You?!”

Illyna, taken aback, glared at him with a face full of tears.

“Is that all you can think of when you see me, even when you’re on the verge of death?! Huh?! Alright, I’m also going to do what I feel like then!”

As his vision gradually cleared, Davey reached out to massage her shoulders, trying to ease her tension, but then he froze. Suddenly, she rushed toward him, hugged him, and eventually even kissed him. Along with the familiar yet strange sensation, a surge of mana began to flow into him through her lips.

‘What… is this…?’
