The Max Level Hero Has Returned!

Chapter 627

Chapter 627

"Splitting you using the power of Verdandi was a good move, but to maintain your condition, you\'ll continuously need her power," Davey explained.

Verdandi\'s power was magic, a deception that made the impossible seem possible, such as making someone disappear suddenly or having a person\'s body split and reattached repeatedly. Though magic, in essence, was nothing more than tricks created through tools and sleight of hand, Verdandi\'s magic was endowed with the power to distort reality, making it different from the magic of ordinary magicians. Deception and distortion themselves were her powers. Though Davey could not grasp the principle, her magic was not entirely impossible, according to her. After all, all beings of the Abyss, apart from Reaper, emerged from the remnants of the God of the Abyss, Thanatos. It made sense that they could be influenced by divine authority.

Seeing her stiff expression, Davey tiredly slung her over his shoulder and started walking.

In the huge aftermath of their battle, a beautiful rift opened, fashioned by a higher holy power rather than by brute force. There, Davey saw a beautiful woman waiting for him.

Thud!

"Eek!" Hee-Ryeong fell to her knees, glaring at Davey.

But he paid her no mind, directing his attention to the beautiful woman who had been waiting, saying, "Take her."

"Quite the interesting one, aren\'t you?" she said, clicking her tongue. "Different from me. She will turn against you if she ever changes her mind, even in the slightest.”

"That will be tough," Davey scoffed.

Verdandi reached out her hand toward Hee-Ryeong, who looked back at her with surprise painted on her face.

"Verdandi?!"

"Long time no see, Isildi."

"How are you here...?"

"I see no reason to answer such pointless questions," she replied, leading Hee-Ryeong to look back at Davey.

"Take her. I\'ll return to Tionis with Perserque and Rinne immediately."

"You might want to know that the atmosphere in the Abyss is unusual. They have awoken a demon kind. Not only do demon kinds serve Thanatos..."

"For now, I\'ll be on strike," Davey declared, unwilling to put himself and Perserque through such trouble. They were still newlyweds afterall.

Hee-Ryeong then exclaimed, "Wait a minute! You\'re going just like that? Where are you even going?!"

"Follow me,” Verdandi interjected. “Unless you want to watch those around you die.”

"You\'ve become quite fearless, Verdandi."

"You, a half-penny, are not as dangerous as you used to be."

Verdandi was about to disappear with Hee-Ryeong’s hand in hers when Hee-Ryeong urgently cried out to Davey, "At least send word! Ja-Seong... Ja-Seong and Hee-Ah are still there!"

Davey merely shook his head to her plea. "Not now. We\'ll see each other again."

There were still unfinished businesses in the Heavenly Central Plains. But drawing Verdandi to this place seemed to have exhausted the power of the Dimensional Key, making it impossible to stay any longer. Although it seemed sudden for Davey to disappear, the land would not collapse even without him.

Davey thought of how Princess Jadeflower desired peace and how Emperor Wol Gon of Hwan chose peace in response to his demands. And so it was apparent that there was no point in further conflict. But one issue remained—the beings of the Spirit Realm.

Which was why once Verdandi and Hee-Ryeong disappeared, Davey exited the space, heading toward where the highest deity of the Spirit Realm resided. He approached the man who was controlling the Royal Seal of the Immortal King, preventing the realm from collapsing. But the man was pale, looking like he was on the brink of death.

“You... You...”

"Do you despise the Lower Realm?" Davey asked, but the man did not respond.

"The Spirit Realm was almost shattered. It happened in the past as well. The beings of the Spirit Realm were jealous of the Lower Realm."

In the times of the Heavenly Destroyer, the beings of the unstable Spirit Realm envied the complete dimension of the Heavenly Central Plains. But it had become seemingly pointless.

Hence, the beings of Spirit Realm aimed to destroy the Lower Realm and draw its power to become complete. The issue was that the cause of the Spirit Realm\'s emergence was the humans of the Lower Realm.

Simply put, the Lower Realm had provided the cause, and the Spirit Realm unleashed anger. Thus, the Spirit Realm was the Heavenly Central Plains\'s uncomfortable neighbor and an uninvited invader.

"There are countless ways for you all to coexist. By interfering only to a reasonable extent, you too can become part of this dimension," Davey said, but he was only met with silence.

It took a few seconds to tick by before the Supreme Lord spoke again, saying, "There were two Royal Seals of the Immortal King. What happened?"

"One was stolen by you guys from the Heavenly Destroyer, and the other was created by the Heavenly Destroyer himself."

This did not make sense to the Supreme Lord, but he did not argue. All the events happening were too nonsensical to understand logically.

"I\'m going to die soon, but it\'s still a long way before the next Supreme Lord emerges," he said after a beat of silence.

This made Davey think, but the Supreme Lord continued, saying, "The Spirit Realm needs a Supreme Lord, and the Spirit Realm without one will collapse again."

“Hmm...” Davey nonchalantly shrugged.

"So why did I make such a choice of sacrificing myself for my home that would still collapse anyway?"

"It wouldn\'t be some lukewarm decision of reflecting on mistakes," responded Davey.

"A winged girl with blue-silver hair appeared," the Supreme Lord said, which made Davey fall silent. "She handed me two items, and before leaving, she said, ‘miracles are not nonexistent.’”

Realizing who the silver-haired girl was, Davey grumbled, "Making me work until the very last minute. If she doesn\'t provide enough metamorphosis stacks, I might as well go on strike."

The silver-haired girl was undoubtedly Goddess Freyja. While Davey was unsure how she had descended to this realm, he had a hunch about why she might have been here. But a reasonable doubt creeped in that perhaps her presence was not Goddess Freyja herself. That meant that Kain could have been hiding something from Davey, who had given up on asking.

"So you\'re hoping for a miracle?"

"That\'s what she told me. She also said, ‘Those born under God are all the same beings.’”

“You were depleted of Zhen Qi, and so it was to heal you.”

Zhen Qi was life itself. And after throwing away such a life, there seemed to be no other way to revive him apart from that one method.

"The cost and benefits do not add up." Davey activated a portion of the remaining damage rate of the jewel with a heavy sigh. He then extended his hand toward the Supreme Lord and said, "Don\'t expect miracles twice."

Daphne’s Ninth Level Ultimate Holy Magic was a magic for recovering Zhen Qi, but this could only be used once on a single person. By using it, Davey had to offer a significant amount of power as a price.

"Well, this much I can give."

There was always a give and take. Though Davey did not like the idea of Goddess Freyja taking away his power, it was necessary to provide some if he was to receive.

Which was why his holy power diminished substantially while a light miraculously poured it. And although the amount was not much by the standards of a synchronized soul and body, it was significant enough for a Ninth Level Holy Magic and beyond. It was a rational investment.

‘Looking forward to the reward.’

As a vast amount of holy power poured out and seeped into the Supreme Lord\'s body, he cautiously asked, bewildered by Davey, "What... What are you?"

Davey just chuckled without answering his question.

* * *

Davey had no lingering attachments to others. It wasn\'t the first time he\'d been to the Central Plains.

He sought out the Heavenrend Sect after bidding a simple farewell to Kwak Mi-Young, the granddaughter of the White Flame Sword Saint Kwak Do-Young, and to the other people he had previously interacted with. And when he arrived at the Heavenrend Sect, which was filled with melancholy, he gave the sulking Ja-Seong a smack on the back of his head and handed him a letter from Yun Hee-Ryeong, who left a message. Davey expected him to have advanced to the mid- to high-level Transcendent realm at the very least by the time Davey returned for his next visit. After all, he had already handed over all the teachings through books. There was nothing left for him to teach.

Surprised by Davey\'s words, Ja-Seong immediately read Yun Hee-Ryeong\'s letter with trembling hands. He then fell down to his knees in front of Davey to offer a deep bow of respect as his tears endlessly came in rivulets.

Then after the entire exchange, Davey left him behind, turned on the Dimensional Key, and took Perserque and Rinne with him before finally departing from the Central Plains.

What Davey had not expected was for the Supreme Lord, who had received a miracle from him, to do something drastic. He also did not expect for Ja-Seong to spread rumors about Davey after watching him disappear through the spatial gate.

"Master Davey, Rinne might have a question for you," Rinne said as she stared at Davey.

"A question... Yes, you do have a question," Davey replied before proceeding to casually ask her, "Is your name Rinne?"

"Rinne\'s designation, Rinne. No other designations have been provided," she reported in a matter-of-fact manner.

Davey chose not to ask further, realizing sometimes not asking was the best approach.

Finally arriving at Tionis, Davey entered his office leaving Perserque and Rinned behind. He was craving a hard-earned glass of wine as he was overwhelmed by a sudden wave of weariness. It was great that the estate had recently acquired a top-shelf spirit called Erongde, dated 199 years ago.

Just as he was about to indulge... That was when Davey saw it. The sticky residue on the floor, along with the shattered bottle of the top-shelf spirit, and Illyina standing nearby, her upper garments removed.

The pale skin of her torso that was normally hidden by her clothes was exposed, and a heavy silence filled the entire office.

"..."

With a glum face, Davey sighed

This made her exclaim in surprise, seemingly noticing him at last. "De... Davey?!?"

"Eighty platinum coins. Compensate for it."

The sight of her in her undergarment did not affect Davey as much as the priceless liquor that had spilled did. His precious drink weighed more heavily on him.
