The Glamorous Comeback of the Ousted Heiress

Chapter 390: 151 But her teacher was Liang Zewen (second update)_2

Jian Zhe hadn’t left, Qiu Xuezheng was also at the Calligraphy Association.

She went to the Calligraphy Association to wish the two of them a happy New Year.

Jiang Fulai started the car, “Alright, it’s on the way.”

The car quickly arrived at the Calligraphy Association. Jiang Fulai parked at the entrance and let Bai Lian get out. Resting his arm on the steering wheel, he said at a leisurely pace, “I’ll be free tomorrow.”

Jiang Fulai had just returned at the end of the year, and a pile of work was waiting for him in the lab.

After today’s group meeting, he could take a few days off.

Bai Lian closed the car door and gave him an “OK” gesture, “Then tomorrow I’ll go to the library on time.”

She waited there as he drove the car away.

Only when the car slowly disappeared at the intersection did she walk into the Calligraphy Association.

**

Several elders had already arrived early at the Calligraphy Association.

Because of the New Year, red lanterns were hung inside the Calligraphy Association, making it very lively. When Bai Lian entered, two kids were already sitting in the yard and had started practicing calligraphy.

When Jian Zhe saw Bai Lian, he smiled and greeted her with New Year’s wishes.

The two children also recognized Bai Lian. With Jiang Fulai not around, the kids were especially cheerful in wishing Bai Lian a happy New Year.

Bai Lian always had candy in her pockets which she now took out for the two children, while saying to Jian Zhe, “I’m going to the library near No. 1 Middle School tomorrow.”

“Tomorrow?” Jian Zhe was taken aback.

Bai Lian tilted her head slightly, raising her eyebrows, “If you’re busy, you don’t have to come. There’s no rush.”

The graduate exam was still a while away.

“It’s not that I have anything,” Jian Zhe thought for a moment, “I’ll go to the library to find you tomorrow.”

Bai Lian went to look at the children’s calligraphy, “Okay, bring your graduate exam books.”

The yard of the Calligraphy Association was not small either, ten meters both in length and width. There were about a dozen small tables arranged on the left side, with four large trees planted on both sides. The main gate was at the front, and the other three sides were surrounded by buildings, with the council hall directly opposite the gate.

Now the sun had slowly risen, streaming through the gaps in the trees and spilling onto the white paper underneath the children’s hands.

“Exam books?” Jian Zhe was somewhat puzzled.

A melodious ringtone interrupted Jian Zhe’s thoughts. He took out his phone and answered the call, “Dad?”

“Jian Zhe, just what are you thinking of doing?” Jian Zhe’s father lowered his voice, “I told you, your grandfather is going to Xiangcheng today.”

“There are students at the Calligraphy Association today,” Jian Zhe responded.

On the other side of the phone, Jian Zhe’s father was a little irrational, “Do you really plan to take root in Xiangcheng? What on earth attracts you there? Do you know that Jian Rong is going to take the exam at Jia Yi? Your grandfather is finding people in Jiangjing for him!”

Jian Zhe thought about his improved calligraphy, “I think it’s quite good. Are you coming?”

The other side hung up the phone in a huff.

Jian Zhe looked at the busy tone on his phone, shrugged, and said earnestly, although no one would believe him.

**

The Ren Family.

Ren Qian, dressed in a formal suit, came down from upstairs, talking on the phone with a stern expression, “No news from Mr. Chen yet? Don’t know when he’ll return? Okay.”

He hung up the phone with a worried frown.

The driver was waiting respectfully downstairs. Ren Qian sat on the sofa, picked up a teacup, took a gentle sip, and then asked, “Did you pick up the people?”

“They’ve arrived. People from the Jian Family are now at the mansion.” The driver nodded, having just picked them up.

Ren Jiawei was surprised, “The Jian Family from Beicheng?”

A trace of a smile appeared on Ren Qian’s face, “Yes, thanks to Wanxuan, her information was very timely. It’s just that I don’t know… exactly who is the high-profile person that the Jian Family is waiting for.”

Could it be Mr. Chen?

“I’ll go wait with the people from the Jian Family tomorrow,” Ren Qian tapped on the table.

“Sir,” his assistant reminded him, “You mentioned yesterday that the Ji Family has invited you to dinner tomorrow.”

Ren Qian waved his hand dismissively, “Just say we are too busy with something.”

What he cared about was Xu En, not the real Ji Family.

Moreover…

There was something more important happening tomorrow.

**

The next day.

At 7:30 in the morning, Bai Lian, holding her backpack, had just opened the courtyard gate when she saw Mr. Chen raising his hand in greeting.

Upon seeing Bai Lian, his eyes lit up, and he first offered his New Year greetings.

Then, he took out a white bag and handed it to Bai Lian, explaining, “Miss Bai, this is a notebook that Xu Wenyao asked me to bring to you.”

After handing it to Bai Lian, Mr. Chen walked past her and greeted, “Uncle, happy New Year!”

He had brought back quite a few things from Jiangjing, both large and small packages.

Bai Lian looked down and through the semi-transparent bag, could vaguely see the black physics notebook inside.

“…”

Incredible.

It even followed her here.

In Xiangcheng Library, Jian Zhe had already arrived; he sat in his seat, feeling nervous as he watched the two study machines opposite him tackle incomprehensible problems.

Bai Lian had long told Tang Ming to meet Jian Zhe and save seats for them upstairs.

It wasn’t until he saw a white figure appear at the stairway entrance that Jian Zhe finally let out a sigh of relief.

Bai Lian placed her backpack next to Jian Zhe and quietly pulled out a chair to sit down.

“Sister,” Jian Zhe asked in a low voice, “Am I here to study?”

The two sat at the very edge of a long table by the window; Bai Lian opened her backpack and took out a collection of problems and classical literature books.

“Bai Lian,” Tang Ming opposite them said in shock, “are you switching to the liberal arts?”

“No,” Bai Lian shook her head and then looked at Jian Zhe, “I’ve looked it up; besides objective questions, the subjective part is about distilling points from classical texts to write essays.”

She tilted her head slightly, her tone lazy, her pitch-black eyes reflecting the rising sun.

The occasional flickering light in her eyes was like a white tiger ready to pounce.

Intimidating.

Jian Zhe had never seen Bai Lian with such an aura before, and he was slightly taken aback, “Right.”

“Do you want to try for Jia Yi?” Bai Lian asked as she pulled the classical literature book towards her, resting her chin in one hand and squinting her eyes.

“… I do,” Jian Zhe whispered, “But…”

Everyone wanted to try for Jia Yi, but it’s not like you could just try and succeed; even Jian Rong was looking for connections.

“If you want to try, you can,” Bai Lian flipped through the classical literature book, smoothing out the pages with her fingertips, facing the sunlight with a soft smile, “Then you would also be my junior.”

Jian Zhe was starting to understand, “You, are you not a science student?”

Arts and sciences are different. Bai Lian had never learned how to teach someone literary interpretation, but she remembered everything her teacher had taught her: to impart knowledge, to educate, and to resolve doubts. Now it seemed everyone’s thinking had already solidified; she was good at science, naturally born for it.

Bai Lian raised her eyebrows, her tone unusually proud and disdainful, “Right now, indeed, I am studying science.”

But her first teacher—

was Liang Zewen.
