Son, “Mom” Will Back You

Chapter 119

"… …"

Gu Nian\'s body stiffened.

After a little while, her eyes curved and she smiled, "Of course not. I\'m nothing but a little screenwriter. I am not even qualified to experience that kind of hostilities."

"Is that so?"

"Mmhmm. I have been in the field for a couple of years and had seen and heard enough stories about people causing harm under the disguise of justice."

"… …"

"Which is why," said Gu Nian with her eyes lowered as she dragged the subject back with a stoic look. "There must be a reason behind why this person would spread such a rumor. And the reason very well might be their hostility toward Mr. Luo Xiu – which is why we need to get down to the bottom of it and nip it in the bud before things get out of control."

"What if it isn\'t a rumor?"

"Huh?"

Gu Nian was still in the hostile mood and couldn\'t process what he had just said right away. She gave him a blank look.

She looked into a pair of brown and meaningful eyes. "What are you going to do if the rumor is true?"

Gu Nian, "… … … …?"

For a second or two there, Gu Nian could hear the sound of car brake being slammed down hard and the grinding noises of metal being stopped abruptly in her head.

Her ability to process information was crushed and shattered all over the ground.

Gu Nian, stupefied, asked entire instinctively, "What… what do you mean by if the rumor is true?"

Luo Xiu\'s eyes flickered a little.

He had read through the entire Son Raising Diary in details over the last two days. It would appear that there were a lot of overlapping between Mengzhi and Gu Nian\'s timeline, professional and living habits.

And, if that was indeed the case, then his assumption of their run-ins being plotted by her single-handedly was none other than a big misunderstanding that he had conjured up in his head.

She had never lied to him, nor had she tried to seduce him purposefully. With the only conflict of her having a boyfriend, her feelings toward him had always been very consistent with not a shred of maliciousness in them.

As much as he was unable to comprehend her feelings toward him but if she was who she claimed she was, then he was the "violator of the rules" who had been dragging her in walking the tightrope between the cliffs this entire time.

Violating the rules in this way would truly scare her.

Just like he was right now.

He lowered his eyes slowly. The tender smile on him covered up his true feelings. "I am just thinking that many a times justice needs to draw upon public opinion. It is difficult to determine whether a rumor is true or not without experiencing it personally. If everybody ignores it because they could not tell what is true from what isn\'t, then justice will be buried – as such, what if the rumor is real?"

Gu Nian\'s brain began to churn again.

She let out a big sigh of relief when Luo Xiu tossed out his question at the end. "So this was what Mr. Luo Xiu was asking about?"

"Of course. What did you think I was asking about?"

"… Hmm, nothing."

Gu Nian lifted up her hand and touched her burning cheek with the tips of her fingers. She chastised herself for her impure thought and had interpreted her precious son\'s words in a very different direction.

After finishing scolding her own self, Gu Nian recollected herself and nodded. "Mr. Luo Xiu was right. It certainly is very difficult to tell what is true and what is not without being there in person. As such, the way the media leads the public opinion is very important. The real culprits are those who has no limit as to how low they will stoop when reporting unverifiable and untruthful news for the sake views…"

The subject had turned to a serious direction as the two walked out of the director team\'s office and down the hallway.
