Naval Gacha System: It's Time To Monopolize The Seven Seas!

Chapter 163: | 163 | Operation Aversatrix Mortem

Dust shrouded a part of the city, along with a bellowing black smoke rising through the skies. What exploded was their armory, a building where they stored their weapons, and ammunitions such as gunpowder.

"What the hell is going on?" Somewhere in the interior of the targeted building, a Latran yelled out, confused by the sudden explosion of their armory. He was a coyote-like beastfolk, signifying him as part of the Latran Tribe.

"Boss, our armory just exploded!" One of the rebel beastfolks reported to the Latran, who gazed at him in confusion. "And why did it explode?" He questioned, wanting to know the reason. The rebel beastfolk couldn\'t answer, testing the patience of the Latran.

"I\'m asking you why did it explode!?" He roared at the rebel beastfolk, who trembled and immediately kneeled to him, responded with a tinge of fear. "We don\'t know, Sir. It just exploded out of nowhere."

"Not only that, but we noticed something flying above us. From it, several other unknown things fell into the skies, headed to the ground. We don\'t even know if they were alive." The rebel beastfolk continued, spewing everything he could utter.

"I\'m asking you about the explosion! Why are you sputtering me nonsense?" The Latran wanted to beat the annoying rebel beastfolk, but was stopped when a hand patted his shoulders. He looked back and his expression immediately became neutral.

His anger long casted into the depths of his heart.

"Leader..." The Latran muttered, while the so-called leader\'s lips merely rose. "Calm yourself, Yote. Look at him, he\'s already fearful for his life. You must have patience when talking to those lower than yourself. I\'m sure understand, right?"

Hearing the leader\'s question, Yote straightened his back and nodded in agreement. "Yes, I understand." With Yote\'s reply, the leader of the rebellion nodded in satisfaction and continued.

"We must handle the situation with care. It seems that intruders have entered my city. They might be from the so-called United Navy, who previously considered themselves as our liberators."

The rebel leader smirked, remembering the moment when he stabbed one of those strange beastfolk in the back. These enemies of theirs were hesitant when fighting one of their own. Making him delightful of a weakness he could exploit.

"I heard that these guys were strong. They even have the Dragon of Liberation under their command." Yote remarked as rumors about a dragon destroying the entirety of the colonial military were known everywhere in the southern colony of Austerus.

Although, it happened merely within half an hour, the dragon had thoroughly destroyed the military and government of the colony. Giving them the chance to rise up without any repercussions from the local authority.

"Dragon of Liberation, huh? Well, as strong as it may be, from the actions of their soldiers, it\'s clear that they aren\'t as merciless as the colonial military. We can exploit this weakness and take their weapons for ourselves."

"Perhaps, we might even be able to get the dragon in our side. Solidifying the establishment of a new country of the beastfolks! Don\'t you think that would be interesting." The rebel leader grinned at the Latran boss.

"I can understand that, Leader. But how do you exactly plan in doing it?" Yote questioned, wanting to know the plans their leader had in mind. After all, with the United Navy around, establishing a country would be difficult.

"The answer is fairly simple. We play the long game, targeting them form behind, while hiding deep into the trenches of the cities. If luck is in our side, we can try attacking their armory, giving us some of their advanced weapons."

The plan of the rebel leader made sense. The only way for a less-superior and outnumbered faction to defeat a superior and numerous one was through guerrilla warfare. Instead of forward confrontation, they would be focused in ambushes.

"But before that, we must take care of the intruders. Use any strategy you can think of, and kill them all. If you can get one alive, it would be better. We\'ll finally have a hostage in our hands." The rebel leader gave an order, which the Latran boss immediately accepted.

Yote bowed to the leader of the rebellion and responded. "It will be done, Leader. They have intruded our turf, and they would not be leaving alive." After uttering such words, he left the main hall of the building, but didn\'t forget to glare at the rebel beastfolk while stepping out.

...

Meanwhile, somewhere in the interiors of the building, Mercedes was calmly walking through the hallways with her operatives behind her. They have successfully destroyed the armory, bringing about chaos in the nearby vicinity. This would buy them time.

Though, with the explosion, they have also announced themselves to the rebellion. But that didn\'t matter for the first lieutenant. The prime directive was what mattered. So, the leadership of the rebellion must be killed.

As they passed through a couple of doors, she noticed a group of beastfolks cowering in a fairly large room. She scrutinized the surroundings of the room and noticed weapons lying around. It was also fairly clean, making her furrow her eyebrows.

\'I didn\'t think they would come up with such a despicable strategy.\' She quietly thought to herself, glancing at her men. It would leave a bad taste in her mouth, but it must be done for the sake of the mission.

Mercedes left the doorway and gave an order to her subbordinates. "Take care of them." With a simple order, two Minokins carrying a minigun entered the large room. They coldly glared at the beastfolk and remembered parts of their training.

---

"You are amongst the first Minokins to be part of the Special-Response Unit. Even your warchief hasn\'t ended his training yet, so I have high expectations with all of you. If in doubt, remember my training, nothing more, nothing less." Laplace smirked at her newly-trained soldiers.

---

Without any hesitation and delay, the Minokins pushed the trigger of their miniguns, making its gun barrels slowly but rapidly rotate. The cowering beastfolks were shocked, but immediately realized that their cover had been broken.

Fear seeped into their hearts as they immediately got up, running towards their weapons.

On the other hand, Mercedes continued walking through the hallway as sudden-flashes flickered in and out of the large room along with the thunderous roar of bullets raining down in hundreds. Nonetheless, she maintained a cold expression and kept on her way deeper into the building.

*No!* *I-I don\'t want to die!* *Merc-*

*BBRRRRRRRRRTTTT!!!*

*Argh!* *Ack!* *Pleas-*

As cries resounded throughout the floor, Espada walked behind Mercedes along with several operatives. Their expressions much serious than before. They weren\'t dumb and knew how despicable the rebellion had become.

These bastards were practically using their own morality against them.

"Don\'t mind it. Anything can happen in the battlefield. It\'s how you handle it is what matters." Mercedes remarked and heard numerous footsteps heading towards them. She glanced at her men and nodded at them.

Two stepped forward with their machineguns pointed at the end of the hallway. After a few moments, a group of armed rebels arrived before them with shields and spears in their hands. Sadly, however... It was for naught against the firepower of the United Navy.

*BBRRrrrrrrtttt!!!*

It mere moments, the group of armed rebels were met with bullet holes found throughout their bodies. They fell to the floor as corpses, while a puddle of blood formed on the floor. It was quite a sight, not a good one though.

Mercedes squinted her eyes and passed through the corpses and blood-muddled floor. Her men followed behind, maintaining strict vigilance towards their surroundings. Their enemies were everywhere, so they needed to keep their caution.

"Have you check nearby rooms for an interior map of this building?" She stopped and calmly asked the operatives behind her, wondering if they had inspected the rooms they had passed through. One of them stepped forward and responded. "We have examined the rooms."

"All of them are clear from intelligence." The answer of her men was disappointing. But it was understandable as interior map wasn\'t needed for those that already knew of the place. The only ones that required it were outsiders and enemies.

"I see... Quite disappointing. It would have made things easier." Mercedes didn\'t hide her disappointment as what she had said was true. If something had pointed them to where the leadership of the rebel was, they would have been quickly heading to their rendezvous point.

As they were about to keep moving, a dagger pierced through the air, directly headed towards the first lieutenant\'s head. But Mercedes slightly move her head to the side, dodging the dagger with ease. She then glared at the direction where the dagger came from.

But after a moment, she stopped glaring as the edges of her lips slowly rose. She glanced at her operatives and remarked "How lucky we are. Our tour guide has arrived." She took out her two desert eagles, preparing for an upcoming battle.

"You must be the intruders. To think you have left such a mess of bodies along the way." Yote furrowed his eyebrows while hiding somewhere in a vast hall beyond the lengthy hallway.

Mercedes and her men left the hallway, not bothered by the fact that they were surrounded by hundreds of rebels. They only had twenty minutes left, so they needed to be fast. She gazed at her operatives and declared.

"Leave the Latran alive. The others... Kill them."
