Chapter 833 Four Pillars: Rewarded Efforts
Chapter 833 Four Pillars: Rewarded Efforts
\'And that makes it all the more terrifying,\' thought Sellifer to herself, feeling a bit dumbfounded as she corrected herself that it had only taken Valyr roughly three months to refit his skills.
Throughout the six months he had spent with her, Valyr spent the first month upgrading his mana and Shadow Energy to 2nd Cleansing, as well as luckily obtaining the Intent that would form a contrast to his other Intent based on Shadow Energy.
Then, the two months after that were spent understanding and getting the hang of the trick that allowed Valyr to braid both energies together, making use of the somewhat simple [Arcane Shadow Bolt] as his base.
And though it had taken quite some time for him to get up to speed, the young man had only spent a total of three months to adjust all of his skills to this braided energy, improving them to the point where they felt like they had advanced to a new grade.
Going through all of this in her mind, Sellifer began to look at Valyr\'s progress as if he were a train that continued to speed up thanks to its momentum.
\'Not sure if he\'d get that reference if I told him about it, though,\' inwardly muttered Sellifer to herself as she let out a faint chuckle.
With Valyr having more or less done everything that he could so far, the woman finally told the young man that they could move onto what she considered to be the final phase of the inheritance.
"The Azure Trace," Sellifer told him, to which Valyr looked back at her with a solemn expression. "I\'ve said before and I\'ll say it again, achieving the Azure Trace is the final goal of your inheritance."
Whoosh!
Conjuring the azure light that allowed her to get where she was today, Sellifer watched the wisp of azure energy for a bit before looking at Valyr with a calm expression.
"Though there\'s a vast difference in quality and power between the braided energy you\'ve created and the Azure Trace, there\'s not actually that much of a difference between the two in terms of how they\'re created," she told him.
"If anything, the difference is more on how deep the braiding goes."
At those words, Sellifer infused a bit more energy into the wisp before willing it to head towards Valyr.
Noticing that the wisp was making its way towards its forehead, the young man briefly looked at Sellifer with a hint of curiosity.
Reading through her gaze that he would not be harmed by the wisp, Valyr allowed the wisp of azure energy to make contact with his skin, only for an influx of foreign memories to fill up his mind soon after.
Making use of the experience he had accrued with managing large amounts of information thus far, the young man processed and organized all of the memories he had received as he watched through them.
Unsurprisingly, those memories came from none other than Sellifer, showing the young man a period after the Serpent Maiden visited her.
Making her way back into the temple, the woman was incredibly excited to make use of the method the Serpent Maiden had given her, showing that it would give her a more than certain shot of achieving atavism.
However, once she arrived at the hall where the apparition that taught her stayed, Sellifer felt a sense of incongruence as she looked at the method once more.
"It feels… incomplete," she muttered, a stark contrast to what she thought of the method before.
Going over the method once more in her mind, Sellifer was still confident enough that she would still have a high success rate in achieving atavism.
Though, after going through it, the woman also found out the reason why it began to feel incomplete after she entered the inheritance proper.
\'It\'s a test of sorts.\' Sellifer realized, inwardly letting out a sigh of relief as a message from the Serpent Maiden embedded within the method began to echo in her mind.
As the Serpent Maiden was an entity looked up to by many Shadow Serpents within the Shadow Plane, she assured Sellifer through the message that the method would still work if she didn\'t do anything.
Of course, there was still the small chance of failure that could possibly erupt.
However, if she were to fix the problems that ailed the method she\'d been given, the method in her hands would undergo a great metamorphosis.
"Not only would you be able to undergo through atavism without worries, but you\'ll also be able to tap a far more ancient power through your bloodline, surpassing the power the blood of the Corrupted Void Serpent could give you."
As the words echoed in her mind, the Serpent Maiden also mentioned to Sellifer the task she needed to achieve in order to repair the method.
"Bring the azure light to a higher stage of power," muttered Sellifer to herself, prompting her to conjure the azure light before her.
Whoosh!
Looking at the azure light she created in greater detail, it was there that Sellifer realized that the azure light she had created was nothing more but just a more condensed version of the braided energy she had been forming in the past.
Though, unlike the braid she made before that was visible to the naked eye, one could say that the braid making up the azure light was microscopic in size, twisting and turning according to the laws of nature.
As this sight showed itself to Valyr, the young man was soon brought back to the barren ground with Sellifer looking at him.
"Now do you understand what I mean?" asked Sellifer, to which Valyr thought back to the words she had told him before.
Nodding in response, he then asked her, "When the Serpent Maiden tasked you to bring the azure light to a higher stage of power…"
"She was basically telling me to improve the Azure Trace to the stage of Azure Wisp, yes." Sellifer nodded back.
Hearing those words, Valyr thought about how Sellifer\'s efforts in forming the Azure Trace were rewarded after the Serpent Maiden gave her the method to atavism.
Though she received another challenge in the form of the method actually being incomplete, the young man was certain that Sellifer was eventually able to clear it, allowing her efforts to be rewarded once more.
With all of that in mind, Valyr took in a deep breath as he returned his attention to the matter at hand. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
At this point, all he needed to do was to transform that braided energy of his into the most basic form of Azure Energy to exist.
As long as he was able to do that…
He would be rewarded for his efforts as well.
