What It's Like Being a Vampire

Chapter 147 - 147: Magic Coin (Extra 2 for Cute Sovereign aspirincl)

Chapter 147: Magic Coin

Xiang Kun had quickly checked Guo Tianxiang’s phone the day when he killed him. As a vampire who existed for at least nine years, interestingly, his phone was filled with varied kinds of games on one screen. However, memories related to games were nearly non-existent in Xiang Kun’s acquired memories of him, proving that he didn’t take those games seriously, hence the lack of any impression of them.

The most important apps on the phone were naturally WeChat, (IQ Alipay, email, and several banking apps.

Upon opening some of the financial apps, Xiang Kun could recall corresponding images from Guo Tianxiang’s memory, such as inputting the account and password, thus logging in wasn’t difficult.

Guo Tianxiang had numerous contacts on WeChat, with voluminous chat content, but there wasn’t anything of substantial significance upon a cursory glance.

However, a few of them were his clients, contacting him for treatment or making appointments for family members.

Guo Tianxiang’s replies were always aloof, basically, “treat or not”, “come or not” and an attitude that absolved him of any responsibility.

But judging from the feedback of some people who have received treatment, the effects seemed to be pretty good and the earliest feedback was from five months ago. If there were side effects, five months should have been enough for them to manifest. If it was temporary hypnosis, after the effect wore off, the disease would have worsened and there should have been negative reactions by now.

It seemed that Guo Tianxiang’s “treatment” did have some substance to it.

Guo Tianxiang’s China Bank card had over 2.2 million in cash, and other few cards together held nearly 1 million. Additionally, he had invested in various funds and stocks.

According to Guo Tianxiang’s memory, he should still have some real estate and some assets under the name of “Li Ting’an”. The total amount of these assets was probably not small.

Naturally, Xiang Kun had thoughts of claiming these fortunes for himself. He had the passwords and the phone, and transferring part of the wealth, especially cash, wouldn’t be hard. Even if he had to think of a way, through some means, to launder these fortunes, embarking on this path despite possible reduction, wouldn’t have been an issue. However, he still felt the risk was too big and hard to take.

However, Xiang Kun was confident that, given Guo Tianxiang’s personality, he must have prepared a safe house and some assets that are easy to transfer and carry on the run.

He just hadn’t found the memories related to these yet. Perhaps he needed some surrounding scenes for “hints” and “references” to find them.

That money should be safe and can be “accepted with a smile”.

Xiang Kun turned off the phone, removed the card, and then followed the route back onto the national highway. He walked for half an hour before getting on a ride to leave.

His first destination wasn’t Yangcheng City where Guo Tianxiang had previously lived, but another place situated between him and YangCheng City.

Where exactly, which city, he was temporarily unclear, he could only determine the direction. The precision of the distance was not accurate, he needed to go along the way, and find it gradually.

Because this destination was where the one yuan coin he gave to Little Fat Girl Liu Shiling was located.

He didn’t know if this coin was still with Liu Shiling, so he could only rely on the sensation of the coin and track it along the way.

He was really curious, what was the reason that decreased the sensation of this coin? Was a part of it really cut off by something?

After changing vehicles multiple times, Xiang Kun finally arrived at the city where the coin was located, Star City, on the noon of the 11th.

In his original estimation, the coin shouldn’t be in the hands of Little Fatty Girl. It would be legitimate if it was spent unknowingly by Shiling’s Mom or accidentally lost.

But seeing the kindergarten in front of him and guessing that the coin should still be in the hands of the Little Fatty Girl, Xiang Kun felt quite gratified.

Naturally, kindergartens are not places anyone can just waltz in. He had no excuse to see Liu Shiling. Regardless of the excuse, if the kindergarten teacher should tell Shiling’s Mom, it would invite suspicion. After all, they hadn’t informed Xiang Kun of where they were moving to and by rights, he shouldn’t know their whereabouts.

Outside the kindergarten, Xiang Kun, relying on his senses, once again verified the direction of the coin and confirmed through smell and sound that the coin was in Liu Shiling’s hands.

Xiang Kun waited in a quiet and remote location until the afternoon when the children were dismissed from kindergarten and their parents came to pick them up. He then removed his baseball cap and wig, put on his black glasses, grabbed his bag, took out his phone, dialed 10010, and pretended to make a call while walking towards the kindergarten.

Liu Shiling, who left the kindergarten with her mom, saw Xiang Kun who was across the street engrossed in his phone call, she pulled her mother’s hand, and exclaimed excitedly, “It’s Uncle Bald!”

Following her daughter’s finger, Shiling’s Mom did indeed see the distinctive figure of Xiang Kun and was also surprised, she waved her hand and said, “Mr.Xiang!”

Xiang Kun across the street paused for a moment, raised his head to find the source of the voice, and then his eyes locked onto Liu Shiling and her mother. He too showed an expression of surprise, then while crossing the road he said to the person on the other end of the phone, “That’s it! I have decided! No more discussions! Bye!”

Upon reaching Liu Shiling and her mother, he said with an astonished face: “I didn’t expect to meet you here. It’s such a coincidence! You guys actually moved to Star City.”

Shiling’s Mom laughed, “Yeah, Liu Shiling was the one who saw you first. I didn’t expect to meet Mr. Xiang. Are you on a business trip to Star City?”

“Yeah, came to deal with some things.” As he spoke, he squatted down, and asked Liu Shiling, “How about it, is Xiao Lingdang behaving well in the new kindergarten?”

Liu Shiling nodded her head affirmatively, “Behaved!”

Shiling’s Mom laughed, “She’s playing every day with the lucky coin you gave her. She says she wants to master magic, to be as awesome as Uncle Bald.”

Liu Shiling also took out that coin she always carried with her and gave it to Xiang Kun, asking him to perform the coin flipping trick again.

Xiang Kun took the familiar coin and very skillful flipped it between his fingers, then flicking it into the air and covering it on the back of his hand. He then smilingly asked Liu Shiling, “Guess which side it is?”

Liu Shiling blinked her eyes, shaking her head, “I didn’t see clearly.”

Xiang Kun directly lifted his hand, but found two identical one yuan coins lying on the back of his hand.

“Xiao Lingdang, can you guess which one is the lucky coin Uncle Bald gave you?”

Without hesitation, Liu Shiling directly picked up one of them, her pick was very accurate, it was indeed the coin that Xiang Kun had given her earlier. The other one was just a regular coin.

Xiang Kun was curious, had this girl been with the coin for a long time, thus developing some kind of sensation, or was it simply because the coin was too familiar, she could spot it right away?

However, he didn’t plan to wait there for too long, so he dug out a piece of paper folded into a square from his bag and told Little Fatty Girl, “Xiao Lingdang, this is also a piece of magic paper..”
