American Tax Officer

Chapter 60: Chapter 58: Locking on Target, Spy!

"You should be thankful that the first agency that found you was not the CIA, but our IRS!"

"Our IRS is not like the CIA with their \'butchers\', we have principles!"

"You pay us the taxes due, and we guarantee we will turn around and leave. As for who you are and your identity, we will act as if we don\'t know anything!"

On the verge of breaking down, Koffdale seized on David\'s words like a lifeline and urgently asked, "Are you serious, but you just said that this is a charge of treason!"

In his opinion.

Although the IRS and the CIA have different responsibilities, both are part of the national law enforcement agencies, and with such a serious charge against him, it was not possible that there was no communication between these two departments.

His fear was that after he paid the money, he would fall into the hands of the CIA, and then he would really lose both his money and his freedom!

David spread his hands with an innocent look and replied, "So what if it\'s treason. That\'s none of the IRS\'s concern, the IRS is only responsible for collecting taxes!"

"..."

Koffdale was somewhat at a loss for words.

But then again, just now David had been standing on moral high ground, accusing him of having no principles and committing treason for the sake of money.

But now, thinking about it, if he paid his taxes and the IRS kept his act of treason secret, wouldn\'t that by some measure be considered treason as well?

If his actions for money were unprincipled, wasn\'t the IRS equally unprincipled?

The only difference is that the IRS\'s lack of principles was legal, while his was illegal.

The more Koffdale thought about it, the more ironic he found it, but no matter what, things had come to such a point that he had no choice but to say with a sense of defeat, "Fine, I\'ll pay. But I hope you\'ll keep your promise and not set me up!"

David and Nisen exchanged glances, both wearing a \'triumph\' smile on their faces. Eventually, David turned back and said, "Don\'t worry, we\'ll keep our promise, but if the CIA finds you on their own, you can\'t blame us!"

David continued to remind him, "Your skills are indeed high, but if we could find traces of you, so can the CIA, and they aren\'t all useless. Just a friendly reminder, you better be careful yourself!"

He had located this area through Dan.

And if the CIA were willing to put in the effort, it shouldn\'t be difficult for them to lock down this area as well.

The only difficult part was that the CIA didn\'t have his kind of golden finger to precisely pinpoint Koffdale.

But no matter what, this was still a latent threat to Koffdale himself.

And he didn\'t want to see the guy get caught just like that, as long as he wasn\'t caught, he could continue to provide a steady stream of tax revenue for the IRS in the future.

After a moment of contemplation, Koffdale.

What David said was indeed correct, to be safe, this place no longer seemed like a good place to stay!

"By the way, I want to ask you something!"

Koffdale stopped his thoughts, raised his head, and responded, "What is it?"

"I\'m very interested in the spy you\'ve been in contact with. Can you reveal his identity information to me?"

Previously, through the authoritative function of his golden finger, David had reviewed the spy who had been in contact with Koffdale, who was hidden here in the Lake District.

Such a rich target holding a lot of funds was naturally something he didn\'t want to miss.

Koffdale\'s face darkened, and he replied reluctantly, "That\'s a spy from Bear Country, not just anybody. Betraying him would put me in great danger..."

"Don\'t worry, we won\'t let you take the risk for nothing. According to our Black Tax Act..."

David revealed the tax reduction policy.

After hearing that he could reduce the tax rate by 10-15 percentage points, Koffdale was instantly tempted. After much thought, he made up his mind and said, "Actually, I\'m not too clear about his real identity either. Our transactions are all conducted without direct contact!"

"Without direct contact?"

David and Nisen were somewhat baffled.

"You know, these spies are all very careful and cautious. Whether we use phones, or communicate via the internet, we might be caught by the CIA or the Department of Homeland Security."

"So, every time he contacts me, he chooses a fixed area. He would leave the money and the information needed for the tasks I am to carry out."

Listening to Koffdale\'s explanation, David and Nisen began to understand.

But soon, Nisen asked again, "Since you\'re a hacker, can\'t you just hack into their database or something, to find out who he is?"

Koffdale looked at Nisen as if he were an idiot and replied, "Do you know where the world\'s most powerful hacker organizations come from?"

"From Bear Country!"

"There are at least 50 people there who have more advanced skills than I do."

"If I dared to hack into their database, I wouldn\'t even know how I died!"

Hearing this, Nisen was again puzzled and asked, "Then why do they still need to hire you to hack into the CIA if they have so many expert hackers over there?"

"It\'s quite simple. Departments such as the America Department of Homeland Security have set up a firewall for this country. No matter how advanced the technology is, it\'s very hard to break through from the outside; it can only be breached from the inside!"

With this said, both Nisen and David finally seemed to understand.

David then said, "Alright, you guys should still be in contact soon, right?"

From the data provided by Goldfinger, he knew their collaboration had not yet come to a complete end.

"I just received a new piece of intelligence today. I\'ve contacted him through special channels already, I expect he\'ll give me instructions soon!"

"Good, keep me posted if there\'s any situation!"

"Are you sure you don\'t want to go back and rest a bit?"

On the way back to the Lake District Sub-Bureau Branch, David, who was driving the surveillance vehicle, saw Nisen looking a bit tired and couldn\'t help but ask.

Nisen waved his hand and replied, "No need, missing one night\'s sleep won\'t kill anyone!"

"Alright…"

It was already half an hour later when they returned to the bureau.

And another half an hour later, Koffdale, wearing sunglasses and a duckbill cap, arrived here with the ready cash.

Because they still hadn\'t found the spy, the tax reduction policy hadn\'t taken effect yet, so this time he prepared $316,800.

After the money was filed and counted, this case was thoroughly completed.

As Mary was preparing to take this money to the vault, David added, "Oh Mary, take $60,000 out of this amount, and distribute it evenly into the tax achievements of the other three members of our team!"

Hearing this, Mary was momentarily stunned.

Inviting other teams to carry out tasks, and thus distributing tax achievements to other teams, was indeed an unwritten rule.

But to distribute such a large sum of $60,000 in one go was unheard of.

However, this was David\'s own tax achievement, and he could distribute it however he wanted. She didn\'t ask anything further, simply nodded in agreement, and turned to leave.
