Chapter 24 - 24 Cultivating a Noble Temperament (Part 2)

Chapter 24: Cultivating the Aristocratic Demeanor (continued)

Finn Lewis was a bit frustrated, as the process of paying for the watch turned out to be quite cumbersome, taking at least five or six minutes. Only after paying did he hurriedly stuff his bank card back into his pocket. The attractive saleswoman who had been serving him quickly handed him a business card with a genial smile, “Sir, this is my card. You can call me anytime if you have any questions. I am at your service.”

Though Finn was not particularly interested, he couldn’t help but ask, “Anytime?”

The saleswoman was taken aback, looking slightly flustered. Such practices related to business cards were generally understood, but one didn’t usually ask about them so overtly. But she gritted her teeth and answered, “Anytime.”

“I see,” Finn nodded, then turned around and left. As he was leaving, he casually put the watch onto his right wrist. Seeing how well the top-tier designers had crafted it, Finn found himself admiring it more than he initially had.

Only when he had put it on did he truly appreciate its design. “This is what a watch worth over four million looks like?” Finn couldn’t help but murmur to himself.

“Indeed, and this isn’t even the most expensive one. If you visit the real Breguet exclusive store, their most expensive watch is valued around 14 million Flame Nation coins,” Zero chimed in.

At Zero’s reminder, Finn suddenly recalled something, and strode back into the store. The salespeople, who were busy discussing whether he was a low-profile millionaire or a nouveau riche, were struck by gauging Finn as a legitimate wealthy man.

Finn bought his Breguet watch faster than one could buy vegetables, and without uttering a word. But midway through their discussion, the salespeople spotted Finn coming back. They couldn’t help but feel a jolt of anxiety. Was he returning to request a refund? Breguet did offer such a service, after all. “Sir, is there anything else you need?” The same saleswoman who attended him earlier quickly strode over to ask.

“Does this watch have a matching model that is for women?” Finn dangled his own on his wrist, “If there is, give me one of those too.”

“Um, I’m sorry, sir. We only have this one model here. However, we do have other options for a women’s watch,” the saleswoman apologized.

“Oh, never mind, then.” Finn dismissed her with a wave of his hand and headed straight for the exit. The saleswoman behind him almost broke down into tears, had a potential business deal just slipped away? It wasn’t fair to blame her, of course. Breguet had never released a couple’s edition of this particular watch.

Working in sales is perhaps most frustrating when dealing with customers who don’t easily soften their stance, people who fixate on just one thing and don’t want anything else, regardless of your sales pitch.

After he left the watch store, Finn continued deeper into the shopping center. Coincidentally, after not very long, he found another huge store selling a limited range of clothing. Its logo was familiar, it was George Emadia Jackson.

Finn sauntered in, greeted immediately by a saleswoman. As this was still early into the shopping mall’s opening hours, the number of customers was few. Even fewer were in this particular store. “Hello, sir. Is there anything specific you would like me to show you?” The saleswoman asked with a smile.

“Show me all the clothes that would fit me,” Finn gestured towards the apparel in the store.

“Certainly.” The saleswoman nodded and took Finn towards the items she thought would interest him. Since it was sweltering in Celeston City, she brought out some T-shirts. Finn checked the price of one and found it to be just over 800 yuan. He internally complained, with these prices, how much would he need to buy to spend 20 million?

“Wait a minute, weren’t Emadia’s clothes supposed to be very expensive? I’ve heard they can cost tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of yuan.” Finn looked at the saleswoman, puzzled.

The saleswoman was torn between laughter and tears, had she recommended the wrong items to him? However, in light of the “the customer is always right” principle, she carefully explained, “Sir, George Emadia Jackson is not the only brand under Emadia. It has four sub-brands designed for average consumers, with prices ranging from a few hundred to around ten thousand yuan” “Then why did you bring me here? Show me the most expensive stuff,” Finn immediately demanded.

The saleswoman was momentarily speechless. She couldn’t help but curse under her breath. Judging from what he was wearing, how was she supposed to know he was able to afford the high-end clothing? However, seeing as Finn was now asking for it, she guided him towards the more costly area of the store without further ado.

She soon found herself in disbelief. During her year or so of working at Emadia, she had never seen anyone shop like Finn. Every time he found a piece of clothing that looked reasonably good, he’d ask her to pick out one that would fit him and then tell her that he wanted to buy it.

This process repeated more than a dozen times, which made the saleswoman start to doubt his motives. Was he there just to mock her? Who shopped for clothes like this? It felt more like he was sweeping the shelves clean. If it weren’t for his unyielding attitude, the saleswoman wouldn’t have dared to continue picking out clothes for him. Naturally, she couldn’t handle such a large amount of clothing on her own.

After a short while, nearly eight salespeople were following Finn around, all carrying clothes for him. At first, they managed to keep their composure, but soon began whispering and discussing amongst themselves. It was too shocking a scene to behold. Did he think this was a wholesale market in Galaxyshire? Was he buying clothes by the pound?

On top of that, Finn indiscriminately chose clothes with no regard for the current season, even including a few woolen overcoats! While the saleswoman felt a myriad of emotions, her professionalism helped her maintain her composure, albeit with a somewhat strained smile.

When it seemed he had chosen from every available item, Finn asked nonchalantly, “I’ve heard that Mr. George often comes to this store to get his clothes custom made, is that true?”

“I’m sorry, sir. That’s no longer the case. However, renowned designers from Emadia do drop by occasionally. Mr. George is already 80 years old and has been focusing more on creative guidance since last year,” the saleswoman explained respectfully.

“Oh, I see. Well, that will be all then. Oh, do you offer delivery service? I can’t carry all these things alone,” Finn gestured towards the pile of clothes.

“Yes, we do. As long as you provide us with your address, we can have these items delivered to your doorstep.” The saleswoman looked at the massive pile of clothes. If Finn did end up paying for them all, it would be a transaction of historic proportions.

“Oh, right, one more thing. What if I were to tell you that I don’t want any of the items I just picked out, what would you do?” Finn grinned mischievously.

As soon as his words left his mouth, the atmosphere in the store dropped several degrees..
