Super Gene Ⅱ: Evolution

Chapter 132: 132 The Whip

Throughout the journey, Lin Shen felt somewhat strange inside, as Tu Xiaodao seemed to have become much friendlier, almost like a personal bodyguard, attending to him the whole way.

Lin Shen thought to himself, “No matter how nice you are to me, it’s useless. I truly haven’t mastered ‘Talent Theory’. Even if I want to help you, I can’t.”

Upon arriving at Yashen Base, Lin Shen went straight to the Ye Family castle.

The matter involving Bai Shenfei still needed to be explained to Ye Yuzhen. Trust is one thing, but explanations are necessary. Demanding trust without reason is simply making trouble.

Having finally found a suitable partner for marriage and children, Lin Shen didn’t want any more mishaps. His priority was to turn the raw rice into cooked rice and marry her so they could start a family.

The old butler opened the door for Lin Shen, smiling, he said, “Young Master Lin, the miss is waiting for you in the Small Martial Training Hall.”

“Why would she be waiting there for me?” Lin Shen wondered, but still followed the old butler to the Small Martial Training Hall.

When Tu Xiaodao tried to follow, the old butler stopped her and said, “The Small Martial Training Hall is a private area for the miss and not suitable for entertaining guests. Please, go to the drawing room to rest for a while, there are tea and pastries.”

Lin Shen signaled Tu Xiaodao to go ahead, then followed the old butler to the Small Martial Training Hall. As expected, he saw Ye Yuzhen standing there, dressed in practice clothes, her eyes sharp and focused on him.

“Go change into your practice clothes,” Ye Yuzhen said emotionlessly, pointing at the neatly folded practice clothes on the bench as Lin Shen walked in.

“Why should I change into practice clothes? I don’t want to train right now,” Lin Shen felt something was off about Ye Yuzhen.

“If I tell you to change, you change,” Ye Yuzhen said, glaring at him.

“I came here to explain the situation with Bai Shenfei…” Lin Shen quickly added.

“I don’t care about your business with Bai Shenfei. I told you to change,” Ye Yuzhen interrupted him.

Lin Shen moved his mouth, wanting to say something, but then thought better of it. Arguing with a woman in a temper was pointless; he decided to wait until she calmed down.

“She wants me to change clothes, probably to beat me up and vent her anger. In that case, I’ll have to strike first.” Lin Shen picked up the practice clothes from the bench and went to the changing room to put them on.

“These practice clothes fit quite well,” Lin Shen said as he approached Ye Yuzhen.

“Hmph,” Ye Yuzhen didn’t engage with his comment, coldly stating, “You like to run, don’t you? Today, I’m going to make you run your fill.”

As she spoke, Ye Yuzhen pulled out a Gold-threaded Python-patterned Whip from the rack with a backhanded grip, and with a casual flick in the air, followed by a sharp tug, a loud cracking sound was heard.

This sound wasn’t the result of the whip hitting Lin Shen’s body, but rather the tip of the whip breaking the sound barrier, creating a sonic boom.

Whips are often overlooked as weapons, with many subconsciously considering them as mere tools for spurring horses.

Yet, a whip can be a very terrifying weapon, sometimes even more lethal than swords, given that it’s limited to specific situations and requires high skill, which is why it’s easily disregarded.

Elderly gentlemen in parks effortlessly create sonic booms with their performance whips—what other weapon can achieve such a feat?

Those who wield whips are either novices or ruthless experts; most people wouldn’t choose such a weapon.

Clearly, Ye Yuzhen was no novice. Her technique was skilled, clearly the result of rigorous training.

Lin Shen was startled by the cracking of the whip, but he now understood why Ye Yuzhen was so angry.

It wasn’t because of Bai Shenfei, but rather it was because he had run off without saying goodbye last time.

Just as Lin Shen was about to explain, Ye Yuzhen didn’t give him the chance, lashing out with her whip directly at him.

The inanimate object in Ye Yuzhen’s hands seemed to transform into a dragon as she relentlessly unleashed it upon Lin Shen.

Lin Shen saw from the force Ye Yuzhen was using and the direction in which she swung her whip that she didn’t really want to hit him. In an instant, he became the aggressor, his toes pushing off with strength, and he dashed out like a ghostly apparition.

Before the whip could reach him, he had already rushed to Ye Yuzhen’s side, crouched down with one arm hugging her waist to borrow her strength for a spin, and soon he was behind her, his other arm also wrapping around her.

Ye Yuzhen was slightly startled. Although she hadn’t truly intended to whip Lin Shen, just to scare him out of irritation, with Ye Yuzhen’s speed and technique, it wasn’t easy for someone at the Steel Level to get close to her. Lin Shen’s speed was unusually fast, and his movement technique was also quite peculiar.

Little did she know, this was the result of Lin Shen’s recent practice of “Stepping on the Immortal Court”.

Usually, what should have followed was a back throw from Lin Shen.

Of course, Lin Shen was not going to back throw Ye Yuzhen, so instead of throwing her back, he lifted her up.

“Put me down,” Ye Yuzhen’s anger subsided quite a bit, and the annoyed expression on her face was mostly feigned. Her body squirmed a few times in Lin Shen’s embrace, seemingly without much strength.

“I ran because I was afraid of dragging the Ye Family into trouble,” Lin Shen said while holding her.

“Are you afraid of dragging the Ye Family into trouble, or are you afraid that the Ye Family will betray you?” Ye Yuzhen asked with her lips pursed.

Lin Shen coughed, “Of course, I was afraid of dragging the Ye Family into trouble.”

Ye Yuzhen didn’t linger on that issue. She glanced at him and said, “You can leave if you want, but you should at least tell me first. You ran off without saying anything, what does that mean? What do you take me, Ye Yuzhen, for?”

“It was my mistake, I didn’t think it through at the time. It won’t happen again,” Lin Shen said as he saw that Ye Yuzhen’s tone had softened, and the moment was ripe to make amends.

“You still haven’t put me down,” Ye Yuzhen complained coyly.

Only then did Lin Shen put her down, but as soon as Ye Yuzhen was on her feet, she fixed her gaze on him and said, “Let’s just forget about you running off without a word. Now tell me about you and Bai Shenfei.”

“Thought you didn’t mind?” Lin Shen muttered.

“I certainly don’t mind. I just want to know why Bai Shenfei would give up on Ouyang Yudu and take an interest in you?” Ye Yuzhen’s voice turned defiant.

“That’s because I’m handsomer, stronger, and more manly than Ouyang Yudu. What woman wouldn’t be envious? You’d better watch out, lest someone else takes your place,” Lin Shen said earnestly.

“Pah, whoever wants you can have you. I’m not interested at all,” Ye Yuzhen said, both annoyed and amused.

“Alright then, I’ll go find Bai Shenfei and ask her if she’s interested,” Lin Shen replied.

“Go ahead,” Ye Yuzhen snapped back.

“I will then.” Lin Shen finished speaking and really turned to leave, without looking back as he exited the Small Martial Training Hall.

Seeing that Lin Shen actually walked away when he said he would, Ye Yuzhen suddenly panicked, “What if I’ve really upset him? What if he actually does go to Bai Shenfei?”

Thinking this, Ye Yuzhen hurriedly chased after him, calling out, “Come back!”

But there was no response, and Ye Yuzhen grew more anxious. Without even bothering to change her shoes, she rushed out the door.

She had only just dashed through the door when a strong arm reached out from the side, encircled her waist, and pulled her over.

Ye Yuzhen was taken aback, but upon seeing it was Lin Shen, she relaxed her tense body, which was then pressed by Lin Shen against the wall beside the door.

“I thought you were going to find Bai Shenfei,” Ye Yuzhen said, looking at Lin Shen’s face which was very close to hers. There was a mix of secret delight and mild anger in her eyes; this guy was playing her again.

But feeling the strong heartbeat and warmth of the body pressing against hers, Ye Yuzhen couldn’t bring herself to be angry, and her body went limp.

Lin Shen remained silent, his face drawing nearer and nearer, and she felt utterly disarrayed.
