Lunar Supremacy: The Original Alpha

Chapter 67 Sudden Death

Nika\'s power to put people to sleep proved invaluable, and they were able to move through the facility with ease. But time was running out, and they needed to hurry if they wanted to avoid being caught.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, they burst through the doors and out into the underground laboratory.

Hector and Nika made their daring escape from Wayne Tower, using the sewage system to evade detection and emerge a safe distance away from their target. With their hearts still pounding with excitement, they made their way to a nearby parking lot, where a descreet white Honda Civic awaited their arrival.

As they climbed into the car, Hector let out a heavy sigh, feeling the weight of their mission\'s success on his shoulders. The discovery of Project X had sent shivers down his spine, and he couldn\'t shake the feeling that their actions would have serious repercussions. He knew that the Wayne Corporation was a just puppet of who ever was behind Project X .

"We succeed but was it worth it ? " Hector asked himself.

Their victory had come at a heavy cost, with many Wager mercenaries losing their lives in the process.

Moments later, orders came in for them to retreat, a part of an elaborate plan that only the highest-ranking officials were privy to.

For the pawn soldiers, their sacrifice was an inevitable part of the game.

Jonathan Wayne was in a foul mood as he sat in his office, staring at the reports of the recent attack on Wayne Tower. The death toll and the damage done to the building were enough to make anyone angry a hundred times over, but the theft of top secret files was the heaviest blow.

Just when he thought things couldn\'t get any worse, a man came running into his office with a pale face.

"Mr. Jonathan!" he exclaimed. "Nathan and Nathalie have been kidnapped!"

Thud.

The news hit him like a sledgehammer, and he collapsed into his chair, feeling utterly defeated. Everything seemed to be spiraling out of control, and he didn\'t know what to do.

The thought of losing his children was too much to bear, and he could feel the weight of responsibility crushing him.

"I need to save them! " He knew he had to act fast if he wanted to rescue his children. But first, he had to get a hold of himself and come up with a plan. With a deep breath, he rose from his chair,

He was a man who would stop at nothing to save his children, even if it meant spending a fortune. He dialed the number for the DSAS, hoping to get the assistance he so desperately needed.

The phone rang for what felt like a very long time before someone finally picked up on the other end. Jonathan wasted no time in explaining the situation, his voice laced with desperation and urgency.

He could feel his heart racing as he waited for the DSAS to respond. He knew that time was of the essence, and any delay could mean the difference between life and death for his children.

As he paced back and forth in his office, Jonathan couldn\'t help but feel a sense of helplessness wash over him. He had always prided himself on being in control, but now he was at the mercy of the DSAS and their ability to rescue his children.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, he received a response from them. They had a plan, but it was risky. Jonathan didn\'t care. He would do anything to save his children, even if it meant spending all his money.

Alice Smith rushed into the emergency room, where a young man was laying unconscious on the hospital bed, with his heart rate monitor beeping frantically. She quickly assessed the situation and ordered the nurses to clear the room, leaving only herself and her team to work on him.

"Prepare the defibrillator, and let\'s start CPR," Alice commanded, her voice calm but urgent.

The team worked quickly, administering chest compressions and giving the young man oxygen as they prepared for the defibrillation. After several rounds of CPR, his heart rhythm stabilized, but it was still weak.

Alice stepped forward and placed her hands on the Young man\'s chest, her fingers glowing with a soft, white light. She focused her energy on his heart, willing it to beat stronger and more steadily.

As she continued to administer her healing energy, the young man\'s heart rate gradually began to strengthen. His breathing became more regular, and color returned to his face.

But Alice\'s relief was short-lived as the young man heartbeat suddenly started racing again. She couldn\'t believe it. She had worked so hard to stabilize him, and now his heart was failing again. She checked the monitors, and his heart rate had exceeded 500 beats per minute.

She knew that at this rate, he was going to die. But she was a determined doctor, and she refused to give up on her patient. She continued to administer her healing energy, hoping that something would work.

But as if some strange power was trying to kill the young man, his heart suddenly stopped beating altogether. Alice felt a sense of disappointment wash over her as she realized that he was gone.

Her heart sank as she accepted that there was nothing more she could do for the young man.

She checked his pulse again and confirmed that he had indeed passed away.

She then reached for her pen and notebook to record the time of death - 12:00 am. She couldn\'t help but feel a sense of guilt and frustration, wondering if there was something else she could have done to save him.

After a moment of silence, she gathered herself and took a deep breath. She knew that as a doctor, she had to remain composed and professional. She gently covered him with a sheet.

"Tell the chief that Vincent Turner has passed away," Alice handed the notes to her assistant and left the room.
