Married to the Protagonist

Chapter 95: We’re On Our Way to Liking Each Other (2)

Yan Cheng narrowed his eyes and looked elsewhere, curling his lips up.

When did he like her?

He didn’t know for sure.

In the beginning, he enjoyed being with Chen Jinyao. They got along well.

He started having feelings for her out of habit. The feelings invaded his heart silently. By the time one found out, it was already too late to stop the feelings. He enjoyed this type of feeling. It was peaceful and calm.

Therefore, he couldn’t explain.

In short, he was happy being with her.

Seeing that Yan Cheng didn’t respond, Mother Yan didn’t push him either. She smiled and lifted her hands, patting her son’s shoulders. “As long as you like her, as long as you like her. Your father doesn’t need to try to set you up with anyone else now.”

She paused and then said meaningfully, “Mother has experienced your feelings before. I can talk to you about some things. Relationships that originated from blind dates will be much slower than marriage coming from actual love. There are some couples that never feel anything for each other just because they married after having a blind date. Although you were forced on a blind date with Yaoyao, as parents, we obviously want you to be happy. Don’t think back to your past. Since you’re sure, then live a happy life with Yaoyao. Be good to her. Yan Family’s men need to pamper their wives.”

Someone was boiling soup in the kitchen. The fragrance had already wafted out into the living room.

Yan Cheng scrunched his nose and rolled his Adam’s apple. “I know.”

He wasn’t a child anymore. Why wouldn’t he understand this?

After this conversation, the atmosphere quietened.

From a certain sense, Yan Cheng had put Mother Yan on the same side as him. He could talk to her about his feelings without worry and was sure that Mother Yan would keep his secret. This confidence originated from his past experiences.

Yan Cheng suddenly recalled his second brother’s words and then Mother Yan’s attitude. He seemed to have discovered a new land, happily lifting his brows. He then looked at Mother Yan and seemingly smiled. “Second brother said that you would be an evil mother-in-law in the past.”

He pursed his lips as to say that he couldn’t believe his second brother would say that.

Hearing this, Mother Yan stayed silent for two seconds. She clenched her teeth and cursed, “this brat.” Then, she recovered to her dignified imposing manner and stood up straight, wearing a serious expression. “I can differentiate right from wrong and I have eyes too. Whether I’m a good or bad mother-in-law depends on the women you guys marry.”

Yan Cheng was shocked by his mother’s retaliation.

The two had come clean about their feelings and the conversation was quite pleasant overall.

Mother Yan was extremely comforted right now.

In the past, she was thinking about talking to them about getting a kid, but she was afraid that she might put too much pressure on them. But as of right now, it seemed like there wasn’t that much pressure put on them. Later on, she could smoothly talk about this on the dining table.

But not a minute in and Mother Yan knitted her brows again.

She’d only be happy if they mutually liked each other. She didn’t know about Yaoyao’s feelings for her son…

However, seeing how much Jinyao defended Yan Cheng, it seemed like she did feel something for him.

Mother Yan sighed and felt comforted.

Who knew that not only did Yan Cheng come out of her stomach, but he was also her roundworm before he was born. He was able to accurately state what she had been thinking about.

Yan Cheng exclaimed, “Mother, don’t talk about what we said on the phone later on.”

Yan Cheng said, “We know and we discussed this not too long ago. I’m giving up on smoking and she is also forcing me to work out too. We’re preparing.”

Preparing what?

Mother Yan immediately understood.
