The Villain and the Cannon Fodder’s Mother

Chapter 71: I no longer love him, thanks! (2)

The two women turned and looked at the same time. They saw Meng Yuran walking toward them with his hands in his pockets.

Meng Yuran was only 13 years old, but other than the gangly look that belonged to a young adult, he already exuded the feel of someone who was almost an adult.

This was the first time Zhang Xiying saw Meng Yuran.

She hadn’t expected Meng Yan’s son to be like that…

“Perfect. We are done talking over here as well.”

Lin Yiyi stood up and walked over to the young man.

She walked up next to him and put her arm around his.

The two of them together looked more like sister and brother than mother and son.

Right when Zhang Xiying was studying the boy who somewhat resembled Meng Yan, he suddenly turned. With a hint of scorn, he said, “How could you even offer such a miniscule amount? That’s not even enough for my mom to buy two purses… Why is Meng Yan getting stingier and stingier after the divorce?”

Zhang Xiying, “……”

And her good impression of the young man was gone just like that!

“Lin Yiyi!”

Zhang Xiying followed Lin Yiyi, a little flustered.

Lin Yiyi didn’t give her the time of her day but flicked the young man on his forehead and said, “Hey, that’s your dad you are talking about.”

She had no idea where her instant son’s seemingly innate hatred for this dad came from. In the novel, he had even wanted revenge against his own father…

Certainly, his parents not getting along and neither party paid a lot of attention to the children had a lot of do with his twisted personality, but he wasn’t entirely in the clear himself either.

Whatever the reasons, she didn’t want Meng Yuran to walk down the path of becoming a villain.

Zhang Xiying’s visit served as a good reminder for her.

In other people’s eyes, her, as Meng Yan’s ex-wife, plus the two children at home, all have inseparable ties with Meng Yan. Take this parent-child show as an example, nobody cared whether Meng Yan has the custody of the children. Why? Because no matter who has the children, Meng Yan was still their father. That would never change.

Regardless of whether Meng Yan would go on the show with his child, the topic was already being broadly discussed. It’s only a matter of time before she was dragged into this mess.

If Meng Yan didn’t go on the show, sooner or later, the public would find out that it was her, the ex-wife, who wouldn’t let him. She’d be the one that everybody badmouthed…

If Meng Yan went on the show, and if any one jumped out and said the child was being exploited for money then, again, her, the mother, would be the one that everybody badmouthed.

She had no idea what kind of spell Meng Yan had casted on his fans. He was always the one who’d reap all the benefits and she ended up with all the blames.

Lin Yiyi fished out her cellphone and clicked open WeChat.

As usual, she didn’t bother reading the comments below so she had no way of knowing that, as opposed to a month or two ago, the comment section was much more peaceful and all the insults and scornful words has been replaced with fans begging for her recipes.

Tap, tap, tap, tap, tap. She typed a few words and wrote a message on WeChat.

This was the only time in the last two months that what she posted was not pictures of delectable food but a text that said: I no longer love him, thanks!

The first one to forward her post was Meng Yuran.
